About MeI have been teaching sixth and seventh grade science students for eight years now and have loved (sometimes with gritted teeth) every minute. Middle school years are not the years one typically looks back on with delight and longing to relive. While I know there isn't much one teacher can do to change that track, I knew that I wanted to be the kind of teacher that offered a refuge from the storm of middle school life through exciting curriculum and a warm smile.
I currently live in Lexington, South Carolina and work at Meadow Glen Middle School (Go Gators!). I have been married to my husband, Landon Moore for almost 19 years. Landon is also a middle school teacher at Hopkins Middle School where he teaches social studies. Our daughter, Maya, began her first year at College of Charleston this year and is also planning to be a teacher. I am currently working on my masters degree from Coker College in Curriculum and Instructional Technology. In my spare time, I enjoy camping, baking cakes and spending time with my family. |
Thank You
I would be absolutely remiss if I did not take a moment to thank so many of the people in my life who have supported me and lifted me up in order to achieve the things I have thus far. My family (too many to list but I love you all dearly) and friends taught me about empathy, love and understanding for all people. My fellow teacher friends taught me about patience and how to connect with kids. Thanks to Kelly Thacker and Elizabeth Crocker for editing my writing and life as necessary. Rebekah Kahane my partner in crime.
Through this TGC program, I have learned the importance of global education and developed a sense of urgency in making the world a better place not just for myself, but for everyone. Many thanks to my TGC siblings for supporting me when times got tough abroad and cheering me on when something when right. Yulia Sari & Ronal Fuijanto and my host school for opening your arms to me and inviting me in to your world. Dewi Susilawati for reminding me to zip up my book bag, helping me cross the street and teaching me with patience about her home. Linda, Bonnie and Bob for hanging out with me even after the trip and keeping me from getting lost. The people of Indonesia for teaching me about your life on the other side of the world. |
